It showcases remarkable solubility characteristics, being soluble in roughly 50 times its volume in water, and perfectly blends with phenol, aldehyde, ketone, glacial acetic acid, triethyl phosphate, ethyl acetoacetate, and cyclohexylamine. Its compatibility extends further as it is miscible with various chlorinated hydrocarbon solvents, ethanol, ether, and N, N-dimethylformamide in any proportion. Highlighting its physical attributes, it has a relative density of 1.3266 (at 20/4°C), a melting point of -95.1°C, and a boiling point of 40°C. Safety is paramount, and thus, the autoignition point is recorded at 640°C. Other notable features include a viscosity of 0.43mPa·s at 20°C, a refractive index of nD (20°C) 1.4244, a critical temperature of 237°C, and a critical pressure of 6.0795MPa. Upon pyrolysis, it produces HCl and trace ***, while prolonged heating with water yields formaldehyde and HCl.
